Toms is the locals' favorite. It's a tradition here in South Haven.

Worst food ever! I cannot believe this place is even in business. I took my family there (because my wife was craving Chinese). There was a point where I put a chicken nugget (for the Sweet and Sour chicken) in my mouth, and I almost spit it out. It had a rubber-like texture and was devoid of any flavor other than that of 2-day old fryer oil. Run away!

Most people, locals and tourists, seem to go to Tom's for the very average buffet. It is clean and the food is served at the proper temperatures. However, the quality of the food is mediocre to below average. The best word I can think to describe it is uninspired.

Excellent food on the weekend buffet. Pricey but worthy it because the selection and the food itself is so much better than the "other" Chinese buffet in town. Lunch specials are great also because you get so much food for the price.

Absolutely horrible. Possible the worse Chinese food I have ever had anywhere in the United States. Bland, not using fresh ingredients, some was overlooked, some was under cooked. I am pretty sure I got a mild case of food poisoning here.

I don't know why this has such bad reviews. Tom's is much better than any other Chinese restaurant in South Haven. The food is fresh and tastes great. I've been going to Tom's for over 10 years and have not once been disappointed. The orange chicken is great and the egg rolls are the BEST I've ever had at ANY Chinese restaurant. They serve hot tea with meals for free and the prices are reasonable. If you don't like buffets or are worried about something not being fresh you can order off their menu where they have more options and generous portion sizes. Tom is incredibly nice and the food isn't like Chinese buffets in the area that have ice cream and French fries. The only thing bad I have to say is that their isn't much air flow in the restaurant an it can get stuffy and hot during the summer. That said, everyone complaining is probably used to chain Chinese restaurants like Panda Express whose food is crap. This place is great. Well worth a try.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
